Welcome to Kingsmoor Academy’s School Council

Why do we have a School Council?

The School’s Council is an ideal opportunity for pupils to get more involved in the way the school is run.

The School Council benefits the whole school, pupils and teachers, because it provides opportunities for pupils to communicate their feelings as well as influence decisions that are made within school.

School Council Representatives, develop skills such as confidence, communication and negotiation. It is the responsibility of each Representative to ensure that they express both their own views and the views of all the other pupils they represent.

Who can be a member of the School’s Council?

We have an active School Council with 1 boy and 1 girl representing their fellow pupils from Years 1 to Year 6.

Each representative is elected by their classmates at the beginning of the school year after a short presentation explaining why they should be elected.

What does the School Council do?

“Being a member of school council is about taking care of others and the school’s property. In our school council meetings, we talk about the school’s events (such as school fates, discos and fundraisers.) We take ideas from our class and feed these back. Also we try to make the school a better place by making the right choices; therefore, Kingsmoor Academy will be a better and popular school.” (6 Australia)

Kingsmoor Academy’s School Council meet regularly with Miss Toal.
