COVID-19 Admissions Appeals 2021

Choosing a school for your child is a very exciting and anxious time for you.

We are very sorry that due to the pandemic we haven’t been able to invite you in for a school tour and information session this year.

So that we can give you a little insight into our academy, and hopefully help you to make your decisions about which schools to apply for, we have created a ‘virtual tour’ which we hope you will enjoy watching.

Kingsmoor Virtual Tour 2020

Applying to join us:

Is your child starting school in September 2021? Please contact the school office to register your interest in joining our ‘virtual information meeting ‘ which will be held on Wednesday 11th November @ 9.30am.

How to apply:

If you are applying for a place in Reception starting in September before the application closing date in January please apply via the Local Authority for the area in which you live.  Where this is Essex County Council, the form can be found here .

If you miss the deadline, you can still apply through your Local Authority; however your application will be treated as a ‘late application’.  These will be considered after applications received by the deadline unless there is evidence to show that the application or amendment could not have reasonably been made on time.

Transferring to our academy

If you would like to join our academy, please complete the Essex County Council in-year admissions form which can be found here.

If our academy is oversubscribed

We give priority to children living within the local community of the academy.  However, if there are more applications than there are places at our academy, we will give preference to children according to the following rule:

  1. Looked after Children (current and previously)
  2. Children living permanently at the same address as a child attending the academy at the time of their admission
  3. Children living closest to the academy based on straight line distance (this link will give you an estimate of the straight line distance between your house and the academy)

All children with statements of special educational needs or an education health and care plan (where the academy is named on the statement) will be admitted before we apply these three rules.

We keep a waiting list for each year group which is used to fill any vacancies.  This is ordered based on the above criteria and not on the date your child is added to it.

The waiting list is cleared at the end of June each year (and 1 January for Reception).  If you would like your child to remain on the list after these dates please contact us on 01279 306 136.
